Universidad de Chile is part of the Chilean football elite. The club is renowned for its fervent fans that support La U (the team's nickname meaning The U) regardless of victory or failure, and even when it was relegated 1988. Universidad de Chile hold a prestigious record of achievements, including 12 Primera Division Championships, 3 Copa Chile and respectable performances in the Copa Libertadores continental tournament. Manager: Arturo Salah

Salah has a wealth of football managerial experience and has been in the business for over 20 years. His current tenure, beginning in 2007, at Universidad de Chile is his second with the club. He previously led the team between 1993 and 1994. Highlights of his career include coaching Chile Premier Division giants Colo-Colo, as well as Monterey and Huachipato. As a player, Salah played for some of Chile's most popular clubs.

Stadium: Estadio National de Santiago

The Estadio National de Santiago is both Universidad de Chile's home ground and Chile's national stadium. The facility has a capacity exceeding 65,000 people. It was used to host a number of important matches in the 1962 FIFA World Cup, including the opening game and the final. The stadium also has a dark past as it was used to detain political opponents of the military government post, a 1973 coup in the country.

Universidad de Chile - 2007/2008 Season

A string of mediocre performances resulted in the club finishing mid-table in the 2007 Apertura tournament, but Universidad de Chile found some form in the Clausura and have played attractive and effective football. This strong, but not title winning, end to the year should create positive momentum going into the 2008 Apertura.
