Manager: Bernd Schuster

After leading the club to their first La Liga title in four years, Fabio Capello was sacked by management for being too boring. Bernd Schuster, the famous player/coach has been brought in as his replacement. Shuster played as a midfielder for both Barcelona and Real Madrid in the 1980’s. In recent times, his management career has gone from strength to strength, most notably guiding Getafe CF to two relatively successful La Liga seasons and entry into the 2007-2008 UEFA Cup. He joined Real Madrid on the 9th of July, 2007.

Stadium: Santiago Bernabéu

Santiago Bernabéu, known simply as the Bernabéu, is an icon in world football and has been home to Real Madrid since 1947. The stadium has been the venue for a myriad of major finals including the European Cup three times, the European Championship in 1964 and the FIFA World Cup final in 1982. The ground currently seats over 80,000 people, although it once had a capacity exceeding 120,000.

Real Madrid - 2007/2008 Season

Real Madrid will be without a number of last season’s key players including Roberto Carlos, David Beckham, Ivan Helguera, Emerson and Jose Antonio Reyes, leaving Schuster with a relatively new team and a lot to do if he hopes to lead the club to a successive La Liga title. Bolstering the ranks for this season’s campaign are signings such as Pepe, Gabriel Heinze, Royston Drenthe and Chelsea winger Arjen Robben who cost the club €36.55 million (the fourth largest signing in La Liga history). The club has made some bold moves and time will reveal if they were inspired or rash.
