NFL Football news - Eagle dump receiver

The Philadelphia Eagles have had enough of star wide receiver Terrell Owens' antics and have decided to do without the outspoken Pro Bowler for the remainder of the season.

Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid said Owens, "had been warned repeatedly about the consequences of his actions."

"We gave Terrell every opportunity to avoid this outcome," he said.

The Eagles' troubles with Owens began when he fired longtime agent David Joseph and hired Drew Rosenhaus.

After one season into the seven-year, $48.97 million deal Owens signed when he came to Philadelphia in March 2004, Owens demanded a new improved contract be drawn up.

The Eagles have suspended Owens, without pay, four the next four games at a cost of $800,000 to Owens. They will however, have to pay Owens to stay home for the final five games of the regular season at a cost of $1 million.
