Stadium: Estadio Libertadores de América Independiente’s home ground is the Estadio Libertadores de América. Completed in 1928, the La Doble Visera de Cemento (The double cement eyeshade), as it is known by fans, was the first stadium to be constructed from cement. It can seat over 52,000 people and is the fourth largest stadium in the country. The facility is currently undergoing substantial renovations. Independiente - 2007/2008 Season Under the leadership of new coach Pedro Troglio, Independiente has regained some form and is a serious challenger to win the 2007 Apertura tournament. With four games to go, the club is currently sitting third on the log, four points adrift from leaders Lanús and just one behind Boca Juniors.
