BET LIVE on over 500 global football games a week, including all French Ligue 1 matches.

As part of the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), Ligue 1 is at the pinnacle of French football and one of the top five professional leagues in the world. Twenty teams compete for the title via a traditional points and table format, which is similar to most domestic European competitions. Ligue 1 teams are perceived to play overly defensive football and as a result the league is widely regarded to offer less entertainment value compared to other top-flight competition, but this strategy has contributed to solid success in Europe and one of the strongest national sides in world football.

French Cup (Coupe de France)

Run by the French Football Federation, the French Cup is one of Europe’s oldest domestic cup competitions. It is contested by both professional and non-professional teams. The tournament is notoriously difficult for France’s bigger clubs as the higher ranked teams always play away to lower ranked sides. The winner gains UEFA Cup entry.

French League Cup (Coupe de la Ligue)

Added in 1994, the French League Cup is a single elimination football tournament, similar to the England’s FA Cup. Unlike the French Cup only professional teams are eligible to participate. The winning club gains entry into the following year’s UEFA Cup.
