Manager: Miguel Angel Russo
Russo is a former player turned coach who spent his entire career as a midfielder with Estudiantes de La Plata. He briefly played for the Argentinean national team, but a string of injuries hampered his international aspirations. As a coach he has enjoyed success with Estudiantes, Lanús, Vélez Sarsfield and a handful of other South American and European teams. Since joining Boca Juniors in late 2006, he has led the club to second place in the 2007 Clausura and victory in the 2007 Copa Libertadores. Stadium: Estadio Alberto J. Armando Known by football fans as La Bombonera (the Chocolate Box) because of its rectangular construction, the Estadio Alberto J. Armando stadium has a capacity of over 61,000 people. Intimidating acoustics, fervent fans and spectacular on-the-pitch action make the ground one of the most exciting in the world. The popularity of Boca Juniors makes finding a ticket a bit of a tricky task. Boca Juniors - 2007/2008 Season After finishing second in the 2007 Clausura and winning the 2007 Copa Libertadores, Boca are definitely a team to look out for. The club is currently sitting fourth in the 2007 Apertura, just 3 points adrift of tournament leader Lanus. The only facet of the team’s play that Boca fans can be disappointed with is its performance against arch rival River Plate in the famous El Superclásico derby – River has defeated Boca in their last several meetings. You can expect the club to make a strong finish to the year and it could very well add the Apertura to this year’s silverware.
